Topsoil usually refers to the top 2-8 inches of ground soil. It is a general purpose landscape material due to it being heavy, dense,  packs down easily and holds a lot of water. 

Dirt is what you find when you excavate a basement. No plants thrive in dirt. Fill dirt contains a mixture of broken down rocks, sand and clay. It contains very little fertility for plants to grow. 

Our topsoil is made from compost that has broken down natural materials to turn into nutrient-rich soil, acting as a soil fertilizer. It then goes through a screening process to remove debris and create a consistent material.

There are many uses for topsoil: 

• Gardening
• Planting items in the ground 
• Growing grass
• Leveling low spots in the lawn
• Filling in spots that hold water
• Providing much needed nutrients for improved plant health
